Your job today is to help build a resource for yourself and your classmates about what matters to you with reference to the nervous system and psychoactive drugs that affect it. I have posted a list of suggested topics in your Blackboard course. If there is something else you would rather explore, run it past me. Remember, choose something you care about passionately and have some fun with this!

Peruse the posts of your teacher and fellow classmates. I have posted an example under Psychoactive Drugs - THC... I hope you find it informative. Once you have found a few that you have an interest in and feel like commenting on, compose a thoughtful, reflective comment to at least two. Please consider that there is a person behind the posting that you are commenting on and be polite. It is expected that you will find at least two SPECIFIC things to honor in the post and offer one piece of constructive criticism.

You will be required to post a 1000-1500 word discussion with selected graphics under the appropriate heading. Initially, you should e-mail me ([email protected]) with your top two choices and I will perform the necessary manipulations to allow you access to your page on this web site. Don't worry, it's not difficult. You will receive an invitation to edit your page from Weebly; watch that it does not land in your spam.
To perform this activity well you will need to include at least the following information in your post.

Organize your information using headings. Add graphics, pictures, diagrams and colour. Make your project look professional and appealing - something that someone else would want to read (the world is watching :) Part of your overall grade includes the use of multi-media.

- the symptoms of the disease with SPECIFIC reference to the structures of the nervous system and any receptors/neurotransmitters/biochemistry affected
- the cause of the disease
- how the disease is diagnosed
- any treatment for the disease (past and/or present)
- prognosis for a future with the disease
If a drug:
- general information about the drug
- a diagram of the drug; a comparison with any neurotransmitters it mimics would also be illuminating
- effects of the drug on the body with SPECIFIC reference to the structures of the nervous system and any receptors/neurotransmitters/biochemistry affected
- SPECIFIC effects of the drug on the nervous system
- long-term effects of the drug
